The Park MGM Resort & Casino (formally the Monte Carlo) was revamped from top to bottom in 2018 to become a brand new concept that you should reconsider when planning your Vegas vacation. The central location, exciting dining and drinking options, updated room, and revamped casino floor bring fresh face to the center of the strip. Sitting between New York-New York and Aria and connected to the T-Mobile Arena, the Park MGM is the perfect location for sports, concerts, and everything Vegas.

The rooms at the Park MGM have been updated and are nice and clean and offer additional window seating in each room, but they don’t have the bells and whistles of rooms in the more upscale MGM properties. The casino has been updated, but doesn’t have the modern appeal or asthetic as the high-end options. It also is not as lively as the casino at NYNY or MGM Grand.

I believe Park MGM is a step up from Excalibur, Circus Circus, and Luxor and is a step down from Aria, Bellagio, Vdara, and Mandalay Bay. Because it is new, it is often discounted further than other hotels in its class, so it can be a great option for a mid-tier MLife hotel at a discounted price.

Park MGM Recommendation & MGM Hotel Comparison

I recommend the Park MGM (book now) for people visiting Vegas on a budget, watching a concert or hockey game at T-Mobile Arena, taking in a Lady Gaga show or want a centrally located hotel on a budget. This is also a good option for guys trips, girls trips, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and quick weekend trips. Park MGM also has some of the best MLife offers which help with recommending.

VEGAS INSPIRED COLLECTIONS

The Park MGM recommendation is based on getting a good rate in your budget. For a similar price, I would choose to stay at New York-New York or MGM Grand, as it each have many of the same pros, but with a more lively atmosphere and better overall experiences. If the quality of the hotel and amenities were most important, I would choose Mandalay Bay/Delano, but if the location was more important Park MGM would be a better option. If the price is not a factor, I would choose Aria (review), Bellagio, or Vdara over Park MGM every time.

I would choose Park MGM over other budget-friendly MGM properties like Circus Circus, Excalibur, and Luxor almost every time. I would look for the better deal between Park MGM (newer) and The Mirage (more character, better pool) if choosing between them.

Park MGM Restaurants & Food

One of the largest upgrades during the renovation for Park MGM was the food and drink options around the hotel. Park MGM will not be mistaken for Aria, Bellagio, or The Cosmopolitan for food options, but it has interesting concepts that are definitely worth trying.

On the whole, the hotel doesn’t have the breadth of options as other MGM properties like MGM Grand and NYNY, but it offers one of the most anticipated new openings on the strip in the Eataly restaurants and Italian marketplace which opened the 6th store in the USA in December.

Eataly for Lunch, Dinner, or the Italian Market

Eataly has taken the world by storm and Vegas is the newest location which just opened in December of 2018. The Park MGM is home to the largest Italian marketplace in the world. Comprised of more than a dozen authentic Italian eateries and hundreds of high-quality products, Eataly Las Vegas at Park MGM offers visitors the opportunity to eat, shop, and learn their way through one of the greatest cuisines in the world under a single roof.

There is so much to recommend, so I won’t try. Sit down at any of the restaurants and order your favorite Italian dish. Don’t skimp on the wine or the Italian cocktails. No matter what you order, you won’t be disappointed. Be sure to save room for the homemade gelato or the Nutella crepes. And if you’re eating before heading back home, grab some of the homemade pasta or the huge quantity of authentic Italian ingredients to take home and try yourself!

Primrose for Breakfast, Brunch, or Lunch

Primrose is a french-fare brunch spot that offers great pastries, breakfast, brunch, and lunch. This was one of the pleasant surprises during my stay at the Park MGM and the value and quality were so high I went back on my next trip when I wasn’t staying.

The eggs Benedict are very well done, the pastries (including an almond croissant) were on point, and their pancakes were very nice. The prices were reasonable (for Vegas) and I felt like it was a good value and quality food. The menu isn’t huge, but it has a good mix of option for brunch or lunch. It also has a nice outdoor seating area that overlooks the pool, so in good weather, a patio is a nice option

Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar

Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar enters a very crowded and tasty Vegas steakhouse field, but the reviews have been positive. This is the one restaurant I didn’t visit during my stay, but it kept coming up as a great place to eat. One MGM employee said that they can get a discount at any MGM property and they come to Park MGM just for Bavette’s Steakhouse.

From the website: An acclaimed Chicago classic has arrived in Las Vegas. A stylish departure from a traditional steakhouse, Bavette’s embraces French flair without the formality, blending fine dining with unabashed fun. Indulge in timeless steakhouse fare, including richly flavorful ribeyes, fresh seafood towers, traditional side dishes, and house-made desserts. Strong cocktails and a well-curated international wine list enhance the gilded space which features red leather banquettes, glowing chandeliers, and lively jazz.

Park MGM Entertainment, Bars, & Clubs

On the Record: Must Visit

On the Record is the most interest concept at the Park MGM and maybe in Vegas. The inspiration is music, which is quickly understood as you enter through a vintage record store. Once inside, On the Record is full of surprises, whether the vintage pinball machines call out to your inner kid, the cassette tape or vintage tv wall catches your interest, or the Rolls-Royce DJ booth lures you in.

Dj’s rock the house, live bands might be filling the main room, and guest “bartender residencies” bring the hottest bartenders in the country to On the Record for a night. This is on my short-list to explore on my next trip, but it looks like a one-of-a-kind experience you can only find in Vegas.

Juniper Cocktails

Juniper Cocktail Lounge invites you to enjoy hand-crafted cocktails in a space that’s as serious about kicking back as it is about cocktails. Home to the largest collection of gin in Las Vegas, Juniper takes its name from the juniper berries that bring us gin. The menu features a curated cocktail program using house-made juices and syrups alongside an expertly selected spirits menu.

If you’re at the Park MGM for an event, the Juniper Lounge is a great place to visit. They have themed drinks for the Lady Gaga residency, the Vegas Knights, and others throughout the year.

The Park Theatre at Park MGM

Two words: Lady Gaga. The Park Theatre at Park MGM is home for the hottest act in Vegas: Lady Gaga. She will perform over 30 shows in Vegas this year, from raw uncut performances on the piano to her full Enigma show.

If you’re looking for the kind of performance that feels more serendipitous than scripted: where there’s a special kind of magic that passes between performers and the audience – where the set list is never the same and you can always count on an encore. At Park Theater, you’re never far from the magic in one of the theater’s 5,200 seats. Concerts, sports, awards shows, conventions – events of all kind feel more intimate and immersive here. Come see a show worth canceling your other plans for.

The T-Mobile Arena

© Al Powers, PowersImagery.com

The T-Mobile Arena offers concerts, NHL hockey, world-class fights, and exciting events throughout the year. While not technically park of Park MGM, the hotel location is the closest and gives you the easiest access to these great events.

In February of 2019, T-Mobile hosts acts including George Straight, KISS, and UFC 235. Add in the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights and plenty of other events playing every day and there’s always something interesting going on near Park MGM.

Park MGM Rooms & Suites

There are not many variations for room in the Park MGM. They basically have the Park MGM King/Queen and the Park MGM Queen/King Strip View for standard rooms. All seem to have the same beds (1 king, 2 queens) and seating by the window with a small table. The bathrooms were small, but acceptable.

The Park MGM has a few variations of suites including the following: Nightingale Suite, Peacock Hospitality Suite, Stay Well Suite, Nightingale Suite Strip View, Stay Well Nightingale Suite

The Stay Well rooms and suites bring health to your hotel stay with features that minimize the impact that travel has on your body; providing you with better rest, fresher air, personalized lighting, a nutritious menu and more. This includes air purification, aromatherapy, special lighting, non-toxic cleaning products, natural memory foam mattress and other amenities.

Overall, the selection of Park MGM rooms are fine, but they don’t offer the wow factor of many of the other hotels. If you want a hotel that gives you the Vegas-Wow experience, you might want to book elsewhere, but if you just want a clean place to stay, Park MGM can fit the bill.

Park MGM Pool

The Park MGM Pool offers a nice complex for a relaxing pool day. If you are looking for a hopping party or a sprawling pool complex, the Park MGM won’t live up to your expectations. Simply, the Park MGM pool is average. It will give you a nice place to lay by the pool, the chairs are new, and the bar has plenty of booze.

Park MGM Strip Map and Location

Park MGM has one of the best locations on the strip on any price range and sits next to the coveted city center location with hotels like Aria, Bellagio, and The Cosmopolitan. This location is one of the best selling points of the Park MGM, sandwiched between the T-Mobile arena and the central hotels.

Park MGM is right next to a CVS (no crossing the street), so you can get booze, supplies, etc. for the room conveniently and can access easily the high-end Crystal’s mall and is just across the street from the Miracle Mile Shops that offer all levels of shopping and restaurants.

NoMad Las Vegas

The NoMad Las Vegas is the botique sister of Park MGM. Every room is appointed with custom furnishings, original artwork curated by Paris-based design studio be-poles, Bellino linens, and large flat screen TVs. The suites are sweeter and the casino is fancier.

The NoMad bar and NoMad restaurant offer a high-end flair just outside of Park MGM. The restaurnt is set in a soaring space and was inspired by the iconic library in NoMad New York. The European-inspired hotel gives visitors another boutique option on the strip and enhances the type of trip you can have in the Park MGM complex.

Park MGM Pro-Tips

The sports book at the Park MGM is a bit small, but offers a nice seating area, games, bar, and food area that is affordable. They have lots of TVs and was a solid place to catch a game in Vegas.

One of the guys in my group had a suite at Park MGM and it was similar quality as the other rooms, just bigger. Unless it’s included as part of a free upgrade or is an affordable add-on, I would not pay to upgrade. It didn’t give you the value that I would expect.
