Las Vegas is much more than gambling, partying, and sinning. Sure, it’s a huge part of what makes Vegas tick, but there is so much more to do in Vegas. From world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment to some of the most unique experiences in the world, Vegas offers something for everyone.

Free Things to Do in Vegas

A fool and his money are easily parted are true everywhere, but maybe should be put on the in-flight video when heading to Vegas. We LOVE Vegas, but it can get expensive, especially if you don’t work in some of the amazing sites and experiences that are absolutely free. People watching, walking through the casinos, and taking in the hotel pool are some of our favorite ways to spend the days without spending additional money, because there are so many amazing things to see and do!

One of the first stops is always to the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens during the day and the Bellagio Fountains at night. The conservatory is absolutely stunning and changes for every season. This is one of the most stunning displays in the world and is free for anyone who walks through the Bellagio, very near the lobby.

The Bellagio Fountain is arguably the top destination in Vegas and again is free. During the week, there is a show every half hour from 3PM – 8PM and every 15 minutes from 8PM till midnight. On the weekends, the Fountain show starts at noon and on sunday, it starts at 11AM and runs till 7PM. Songs and shows rotate, so you can get a new flavor every time you walk by.

Other free can’t miss the fun on the strip include the Mirage Volcano and Flamingo Wildlife Habitat. The Wynn has amazing displays and some interesting water features and the Venetian offers street performers and gondola rides (not free, but fun to watch) out front and throughout the casino. Caesars has a cool Atlantis show in their mall and the Linq promenade always has concerts, music, and plenty to do.

VEGAS INSPIRED COLLECTIONS

If you want to get off the strip, the Seven Magic Mountains are short drive away, the Fremont Street Experience always has some cool (if not a bit risque) things going on (street performers, bands, zip-lines, people watching), and the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas is always a great photo-op.

Overall, we usually spend at least one full afternoon walking up and down the strip and taking in the scenes and the atmosphere. There’s plenty to see and do whether you pass through the casinos, keep along the strip, detour downtown or take an adventure to the outskirts of the Vegas strip.

Vegas Food Scene

We talk about the AMAZING Vegas food & drink scene all the time (like here, here, here, and here), but it can’t be said enough… If you love food, you need to make it a priority on your Vegas trip.

Vegas has always been known for buffets (like our favorite Bacchanal, which is 54% off right now) and steakhouses (our favorites here), but there is so much more. They also have some of the coolest drinks around, including massive 100oz booze buckets to some of the fanciest drinks in the world.

Las Vegas Rides & Attractions

If you’re looking for adventure, Vegas has some fun rides and attractions that will be perfect for everyone. Whether it’s the High Roller Ferris Wheel that gives you one of the best views of the strip, the

The High Roller is one of the most popular attractions in Vegas and there’s no denying why. Why wouldn’t you want to get the best views in Vegas? Rising 1,149 feet into the Vegas skyline, Guests take in a 360-degree view of the city and the most exciting thrill rides in Las Vegas at THE STRAT. Whether you want to take the ultimate plunge and jump off the tallest casino in Vegas or you want to float high in the air above the strip, this is the adventure for you!

Las Vegas Shows

Absinthe is our top pick for shows in Vegas

Vegas is famous for their shows and there’s something for everyone. We try to take in one or more shows every time we go to Vegas and we’re rarely disappointed.

Our favorite show is (shocking!) Absinthe, the most talked about show on the strip. It’s funny, crude, and ultimately beautiful, with stunning acts throughout the entire show. This is what a Las Vegas show should be, entertaining, smart, and amazing. It’s a small, intimate venue, so every seat is a good one. If you haven’t been, it is an absolute must for your next trip! Tickets start at $113.

We also have a soft spot for all the Cirque du Soleil shows and enjoy each in its own way. If I had to only go to one, I lean towards the Beatles LOVE show, especially if you love the music. I was not sure what to expect, but it blew away my wildest expectations and was one of the most fun shows I’ve been to anywhere.

You can’t go wrong with an of the Cirque du Soleil shows or The Blue Man Group which has been around Vegas for a long time. Rumor has it some of the Cirque du Soleil shows will be closing down in the next few years, so now is the time to make sure you get to experience the magic!

If you want something a bit more risque for the bachelorettes, Magic Mike will always get the party started!

Vegas Concerts & Residencies

The Chainsmokers at XS at Encore/Wynn

If you love music, you will love the Las Vegas concert scene. Every week there are famous, A-list acts coming to town, but there are tons of smaller concerts and live music to be found on and off the strip.

There are plenty of headliners up and down the strip, from Drake at XS to Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Aerosmith at T-Mobile Arena at Park MGM to Cardi B and Marshmello at The Palms. You can find pool parties and clubs with famous DJs like The Chainsmokers and Calvin Harris up and down the strip.

No matter what kind of music or scene you want to get into, Vegas has you covered.

Vegas Museums & Exhibits

Culture might not be the first thing you think of in Las Vegas, but there’s certainly enough museums and exhibitions to make you consider something outside of the “Sin City” expectations.

From Madame Tussauds in Vegas to the Neon Museum and Mob Museum to Container Park, Vegas has many interesting things to do for the history buff and museum lover that you won’t find anywhere in the country.

If you’ve never been to a Madame Tussauds, this should be at the top of your list. See your favorite sports stars, musicians, celebrities, and heroes as you’ve never seen them before, up-close and personal… And in wax! You have to see this to believe it!

Golf, Sports, & Entertainment in Vegas

Golfing in the dessert might sound like a fool’s errand, but some of the most interesting and amazing courses in the world have been carved out of the desert landscape. With gorgeous mountain views and the strip making for picturesque shows, there are few places with as interesting golf as you can find in Vegas.

If you’re staying at MGM and have some winnings to put to work, Shadow Creek is my fantasy 18-hole course. It’s not for the faint of heart at $500/round, but if you want to play where the movers, shakers, and celebrities play, this is a must. Limo ride and caddy is included in the price and you must be staying at an MGM hotel, but this is the ultimate in Vegas golf.

If you want something a little more affordable and maybe more fun, Royal Links golf club is close to the strip and offers a unique experience. This Pete Dye course was designed with some of the most famous holes in the world as inspiration like the “Postage Stamp” at Royal Troon and the “Road Hole” at St. Andrews. You will feel like you’re in Scottland until you notice the mountains.

If you just want to hit some balls (or it’s 110 degrees and golf is the last thing on your mind), the Vegas Top Golf is my favorite! It’s got everything you expect from Top Golf (fun games, everyone can play), but also multiple pools to help you cool off! It’s a great time and is just on the backside of MGM Grand near Wet Republic!
